Boys and Girls Party
Ladybird's first book for grown ups, Boys and Girls - A Ladybird Book of Childhood was launched in fabulous retro style at a traditional afternoon tea party held at Battersea Park Children's Zoo on Tuesday 28th August.

We were thrilled to be joined by our competition winning family who represented three generations of Ladybird readers. Guests relaxed in the afternoon sunshine with a glass of Pimms whilst their children had their faces painted and were treated to a storytelling of Ladybird favourite - The Gingerbread Man. Storybook wigwams, bunting and old-fashioned tuck-shop sweets all added to the nostalgic charm and the endless cupcakes, cream teas and sandwiches meant that no-one went hungry!

"My favourite ladybird books are the 'Keywords with Ladybird - Peter & Jane' 1a-12a reading scheme books, as I learnt to read with these books and my eldest daughter (who is now 8) did the same. My middle daughter who is 6 is on book 2a and when my son is older (3 at the moment) I shall read them with him. I also test them on their spellings through the 'New words used in this book'.
They bring back memories of the 70s when I was growing up as the setting is the same, the clothes, cars, trains and the toys. I love the traditional English family ...they go on picnics, their friends come to tea etc.
We absolutely love them. Thank you"
