The developers of the club programme agree with research which shows that listening and learning through repetition, as children do when they are learning their mother tongue, is the most effective way for children to learn at an early age. Children’s powers of recall, and their ability to mimic accents, is most acute when young. The inhibitions which can hinder learning in older children are simply not as prevalent at a young age, and because they are having fun, they don’t realise they are being taught!
Quote from a teacher:
"Their enthusiasm for the club is obvious. They beat a path to my door every Thursday despite a full day at school. The combination of song, dance, drama and performance liberates the children to absorb French in a natural way. They almost don’t realise they’re learning, they’re enjoying themselves so much! The Club replicates the way children acquire language at their mother’s knee, through songs, rhymes, and repetition.
At the Max et Mathilde goûter, the children are beginning to converse between themselves in French. The Club is a huge success with both parents and children."
