At Club Max et Mathilde we fully recognise that there is a distinction between what children understand, and what they can actually say. This mirrors the way young children learn to speak at home. By the end of the first block the children will be able to understand most of what the Club Leader says to them, and will be able to use key phrases in any number of situations, so that they appreciate the flexibility of the language. They will have practiced ordering in a restaurant, asking for something in a shop, playing with other children, and answering simple questions with confidence.

For those children who are already doing French at school, the main themes of the club mirror those in the National Curriculum, providing a valuable broadening of their skills in an environment which is very distinct from their school experience.
